New Sports Quota Admission Policy: Equal Weightage To Trial And Certificates

The senior secondary pass outs and sports crazy students must now pull up their socks as the University of Delhi has notified fresh guidelines for sports quota. As per the new policy, 50 percent of weightage will be given to field trial and 50 percent to the certificates/achievements (at least state level) of the candidate’s best performance of the last three years as submitted by the student.

Aspiring students will be required to fill colleges’ respective sports and ECA application forms as colleges have different sports facilities at campus. Trials will be organized inside college campus by college level committees at the time of registration. These trials will be based on strength, endurance and speed. In order to qualify, the candidate will have to pass at least two of the trials and score a minimum of 18 marks. Additionally, DU has decided on 5 percent sports and ECA quota as earlier and colleges will be free to decide the actual number of seats according to availability of facilities, college requirements and other essential factors.

Earlier the ratio being 75:25 for certificates and trial respectively, the overall sports quota criteria received much criticism. Hence, for new academic session well-versed and experienced sportspersons have revamped & meticulously drafted the guidelines. So we can expect less or no condemnation.
